Statue of a youth wearing a wreath in his hair. The
Statuette is a version of one of the two statuettes of the S.Ildefonso,
which depict Hypnos (Sleep) and Thanatos (Death). The work is assigned to
the school of Pasiteles. 1st cent BC. |

Agora of the Italians in Delos. Typical example of the late Hellenistic

Statue of an equestrian officer wearing a bracelet.
Parian marble. Found in Milos. The horse is depicted at a gentle gallop,
with a support beneath its belly. About 100 BC . National Archaeological

Statue of Poseidon. Found on Milos with the statue of
Amphitrite. In his raised right hand he will have held the trident. Next
to his right leg is a support of in the form of a dolphin. 125-100 BC .

Colossal arm of a statue of Zeus. Marble. Found at
Aigeira , Achaia, along with the head. The hand belonged to a larger than
life-size cult statue of the god carved by the Athenian sculptor Eukleides
according to Pausanias. The god held his sceptre in this bent at the elbow

Colossal head of a statue of Zeus. Marble. Found at
Aigeira , Achaia, along with the hand. The head belonged to a larger than
life-size cult statue of the god carved by the Athenian sculptor Eukleides
according to Pausanias. The eyes were made of a different material and

Statue of the goddess Themis. Pentelic marble. Found at
Rhamnous Attica in the small temple of Nemesis . Themis, daughter of
Ouranos and Gaia, was goddess of justice . The statue was carved by
Chairestartos of Rhamnous. About 300 BC. National Archaeological Museum of

Funerary naiskos. Pentelic marble. Found in the ancient
cemetary of the Kerameikos Athens. A young Athenian warrior with full
military equipment. The dramatic facial expression and sinewy body recall
works by the Parian sculptor Skopas. The name of the dead warrior is
inscribed on the epistyle of the naiskos: Aristonautes son of Archenautes,

Statue of Asklepios. Pentelic marble. Found at
Mounichia, in the sanctuary of Asclepios in Piraeus. 2nd cent.BC. National

Relief slabs. Pentelic marble. Found in Rigillis
Street, Athens. A scene of Silenoi and Satyrs making wine: two of them at
the right and left tread grapes in wine presses. In the centre, two more
carry a calyx krater full of the juice of the grapes. Late 2nd c. BC. |
Nike statue. Statue of a Nike or a Muse. Pentelic
marble. Found near Kerameikos, Athens. The female figure wears a chiton
girt high with a belt that is tied in a 'Herakles knot' and will have had
jewellery inlaid in the holes. The Nike or Muse is probably from a statue
group in the Kerameikos by the sculptor Euboulides. 125-100 BC. |
Aphrodite statue. Marble. Found near the theatre of
Argos, Peloponnese. The goddess wears only a himation thar leaves her
right breast exposed and treads on a goose with her foot. 1st c. BC. |
