Graphic reconstruction of part of the mosaic floor from
the Ilissos basilica Athems. The so-called Ilissos basilica, located
to the east of the Olympeion in Athens, is the most important of the early
Christian churches to have been uncoverded in this city. It is dedicated
to the martyr Leonidas, who was put to death in Corinth along with seven
deaconesses during the persecution under the emperor Decius in 250 A.D.
